about

The overture to an opera I’ve decided to write about L.L. Zamenhof (1859–1917), the creator of the international artificial language Esperanto.

The story will be partly fictionalized, in order to highlight the protagonist’s vision of world peace through a common world language.

The opera is in three acts. The music in the first act is more in a Classical/Early Romantic style, in the second, Late Romantic, and in the third, Modern.

lyrics

I’ll probably need someone else to write the libretto, which will be in multiple languages—at least Russian, Polish, Yiddish and, of course, Esperanto.

(I do know a decent amount of Russian and Esperanto.)
